Rentright Tenant Survey Results Questions 1 - 3

Rentright have just conducted a tenant survey with over 4000 registered member tenants.  The survey had 10 simple questions regarding types of property, price ranges, how the tenant found the property and the service that they get from their letting agent.  Below are the results of the survey for the first three questions, the survey is continued and the rest can be viewed by clicking the link at the bottom of this article.

Question 1 - Which factor do you regard as most important when you are looking to rent a property?

When looking to rent a property as expected the most important criteria was the location of the property with 44%, this was closely followed by the price with 35% of responses.  The condition of the property was deemed not so important with only 11% of respondents classing this as most important.

The second question proved that the internet still plays a huge part in how people find their rental homes, 59% of people surveyed found their rental house or flat from internet search.  Surprisingly over 15% found their property from a friend referal.  The traditional methods came in with 9% from the letting agents window and only 6.4% found their rental home from the newspaper.

Question 3 in the survey pulled up some interesting results and it can clearly be seen that users of internet search have some defined problems.  Firstly with 41% of responses users find that information found while searching online for rental property  is out of date.  This was very closely follwed by 40% of respondents not finding enough properties that will take housing benefit or dss tenants.   8% of people surveyed felt that the agents did not respond to their enquiries at all when they sent for information on property.
