Rentright conducted a survey of the registered tenant users on the site and the results of this survey have been published on the Rentright website. Below are the results to questions 8 - 10, the other results can be found by following the links.
Question 8 - Do you claim Housing Benefit or DSS Payments?
The results of this question show that 54% of people who rented property were not claiming any form of benefit. 46% were claiming housing benefit or dss payments.
Question 9 - Do you prefer to rent using a private landlord or a letting agent?
Nearly 56% of people responded stating that they prefer to rent a property via a private landlord. 44% of people who responded stated that they prefer to rent their property by a letting agent.
Question 10 - What type of property do you rent?
58.6% of people rent houses compared to 21.8% of people who rent flats. The remainder of the people rented bungalows at 6.9%, apartment at 3.4% or studio at 2.3%.
The survey produced some very interesting results and gives an insight not only into what type of property is most popular when renting and the typical price ranges that people are paying, but also the standard of service that the tenants feel they get when they rent a property. The results also highlight some important points regarding the lack of property for people who are in receipt of benefits.
