Dorset is a county based in the South West of England.  The county town of Dorset is Dorchester, Dorest has county borders with Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire and Hampshire.  The population of Dorset County is in the region of 700,000, with the main percentage of this population living within Bournemouth and Poole.  Some of the main urban areas within the county include Christchurch, Dorchester, Bournemouth, Poole, Swanage and Weymouth.

Dorset is split into 8 distinct areas which include Weymouth, West Dorset, North Dorset, Purbeck, East Dorset, Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole.  Dorset has some outstanding areas of beauty with beautiful countryside, villages, beaches and coastlines.  Bournemouth and Poole provide fantastic areas to live and holiday with beaches and harbors providing a host of history, however by venturing out of the main urban areas there are some other superb areas to be explored.

The county is served well by all forms of travel, with main motorways being the M27 and M3.  Rail links come into the county from all over the UK and London Waterloo is only an hour and half from Bournemouth.  If you are looking to fly then the London airports are around an hour and half, Bournemouth has its own international airport as does Southampton Airport which is around half an hour away.
