Nottinghamshire is located in the East Midlands and has county borders to South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire. The population is around 1million people and the county town is Nottingham. Over half of the population of Nottinghamshire live in the City of Nottingham and the neighbouring conurbations. Nottinghamshire has a rich history with the main industry being the coal mining in days gone by.
